- May 12, 2019 – Payers and Providers: Working Together to Improve Maternal Health – Z. Colette Edwards, MD MBA speaks on a panel discussion at The Future of Obstetrics Summit, which looked at collaborative ways to improve maternal health before, during, and after childbirth.
The panelists discussed steps payers and providers can take together to make patient needs the focus of care and address such issues as “the fourth trimester” (the 12 months following delivery) and health disparities in maternal mortality, e.g., maternity-related death rates among African American women are 3-4 times higher than their white peers, even when adjusted for income and education.
