Meet the Insight MD® Founder, Z. Colette Edwards, MD, MBA
Known by her clients as “The Insight Doctor,” Colette is an internist and gastroenterologist who received her BA from Harvard, her MD from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, and an MBA from the Wharton School. She completed a residency in internal medicine from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a fellowship in gastroenterology from the University of California, San Francisco. Colette has completed a graduate certificate program in health and wellness coaching from Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), formerly Tai Sophia Institute, and is a past scholar in the NIH Translational Health Disparities Program.

A passionate healthcare leader, her co-authored book Navigating Your Healthcare Journey guides patients through the complicated healthcare system, which challenges even the savviest patients. The co-authors, a doctor and a patient, provide personal and professional insights to empower patients to take charge of their health.
A passionate expert on the impact of stress, her book Be Less Stressed provides practical tips and guidance to readers on how to manage daily stressors and live a happier, more productive life. She has written on various health topics for Her Mind magazine as well as Woman’s Day, her article on caregiver stress was featured in the Wharton Healthcare Quarterly, and she is also the author of Gastroenterology Quick Glance, a McGraw-Hill GI text. Dr. Edwards reviews submissions for the Journal of the National Medical Association, as well as for academic publisher Peter Lang Publishing Group.
The co-creator of the popular workshops, “Leading with Authenticity” and “The Art and Science of Healthy Aging,” Colette has taught “Foundations of Health Coaching” to pharmacy students at Notre Dame University of Maryland and was a faculty member at MUIH, where she served as a Mentor Coach and a participant in the “Holistic Approaches to Stress: The Art and Science of Relaxation” seminar series.
